Local colleges announce enrollment; NDSU reports record freshman class

North Dakota State University reported 12,871 students today, a 5.3 percent increase from this time last year.
The headcount includes a record 2,648 freshmen, 473 more than last year.
The enrollment is expected to fluctuate before it becomes final.
Prakash Mathew, vice president for student affairs, said NDSU’s enrollment may come close to 13,000 this fall.
Minnesota State University Moorhead reported 7,272 students on the first day of class, which was Monday.
Campus officials expect to hit the target enrollment of 7,500 students, spokesman Doug Hamilton said.
The four campuses of Minnesota State Community and Technical College reported 5,701 students, a 6.3 percent increase from this time last year.
MSCTC-Moorhead campus is serving 3,226 students through on-campus and online classes. Official enrollment for MSUM and MSCTC will be reported on the 30th day of classes.
Concordia College starts classes on Thursday.
